Three years ago, I bought a sleeveless knitted dress with a low neckline from an online store. It was so big that the straps kept slipping off my shoulders. How many balls of Summer Dream for a top?

Plan on 2–3 balls. A short-sleeved or sleeveless top in sport-weight yarn typically takes 700–1,000 m, and each 100 g ball of Summer Dream holds 350 m. Openwork or a cropped fit sits at the low end; a longer body, sleeves or larger sizes need the third ball, or a fourth for a tunic.

YarnArt Summer Dream vs Rosegarden: what's the difference?

Both are cotton gradient yarns for summer. Summer Dream is 70% cotton and 30% viscose, sport weight, with a light sheen and silky drape, in 100 g balls of 350 m. YarnArt Rosegarden is 100% cotton, a matte fingering weight in big 250 g cakes of 1,000 m, enough for a tee or shawl from a single cake.

Can you crochet with YarnArt Summer Dream?

Yes. The label gives a 3 mm hook, and open stitches such as mesh, shells and granny squares show off the gradient and sheen in tops, shawls and bags. The cotton-viscose plies can separate, so a hook with a rounded head and steady tension keeps stitches tidy. Mandalas worked in rounds turn the gradient into rings.

Is Summer Dream suitable for baby clothes?

Yes. It is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, the 70% cotton keeps summer cardigans, bonnets and sun tops breathable, and the viscose gives a soft, smooth touch. Gradient colours make simple baby patterns look striped without changing balls. A cardigan for 0–12 months typically takes 300–450 m, so 1–2 balls.
